The Lewis & Clark County Historical Society is historically an all-volunteer organization. You can do anything from becoming a docent giving tours of the History Center, planning and building in house exhibits, leading walking tours of Helena, creating digital programming and exhibits, performing community outreach to schools and groups across Lewis & Clark County, performing data entry, fulfilling research requests, managing the museum shop, fulfilling orders and coordinating our library archives. You can volunteer on your own time and schedule. You will receive free volunteer training.
Groups can also volunteer!
Since we are a 501(c)3 organization, we can provide volunteers in need of community service hours for organizations such as the National Honor Society, Scouting America, Girls Scouts of America, 4-H, etc.
We also sponsor college/university independent study programs as well as internships in history and museum management for academic credit.
Download the application form below, complete it and either mail it or bring it into the History Center located at 681 Helena Avenue. We are open on Saturdays from 10am until 3pm.
