Clay Arts in Helena
Live potters from our own Helena Clay Arts Guild will demonstrate their hands on skills during this program! Come and watch cups and bowls rise from a lump of clay! Combined with a program about the history of Helena’s early rapid growth due to Helena area lime and clay deposits, this will be an exceptionally fun evening. The Helena Clay Arts Guild, over one hundred artists strong, is one of the largest clay arts complexes in the Rocky Mountains! Yep! Our Guild has more artists than the Archey Bray.

Pre -1805 Archeological sites in Lewis & Clark County
dynamic program about Native American archeological sites in Lewis and Clark County BEFORE the Lewis and Clark Expedition arrived in Montana. Presented by Partrick Rennie from the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, this interactive program will be great fun as we learn about the life styles and technology of the 600 generations of people who lived in Montana before we all came along!

Bob Kelly – Helena’s Notorious U.S. Marshall
John Barrows presets his one man show about one of Helena’s early notorious pro-slavery characters; Robert S. Kelley. Kelly was one of the first gold seekers to use the Bozeman Trail. Coming to Last Chance Gulch on the heels of the Four Georgians, Kelley filed the second mining claim in Helena’s Grizzly Gulch He was appointed the U.S. Marshall for the Montana Territory in 1884. Kelley was also the Supt. of the Montana Territorial prison in Deer Lodge. You have seen him as Dr. Glick but Barrow’s portrayal of Kelley is simply a show stopper!

Taste of Christmas in 1865
Last Chance Gulch was roaring in December of 1865. Cold and snow did not impede the Christmas celebrations although the mansions, tall buildings and railroads were yet to come to the Queen City. A popular Holiday drink was a whiskey ditch. The whiskey ditch allowed its consumers to drink water without contracting typhoid fever.
